On July 27, Han Zirong, Executive Vice Chairperson of the Beijing Olympic City Development Association (BODA), met with the visiting delegation led by Michael Payne, Chair of Volleyball World. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including the promotion of volleyball, the hosting of FIVB events in Beijing, and the development of grassroots volleyball events.

Michael Payne introduced that Volleyball World is the commercial arm of the Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), primarily managing a series of international events such as the FIVB Volleyball World Championships, the Volleyball Nations League, and beach volleyball events. The FIVB places great importance on the Chinese market and looks forward to promoting the staging of more high-level international volleyball events in China.

Han Zirong noted that Beijing, as the world’s first dual Olympic city, boasts a number of premium Olympic venues and a volleyball participation boom. She expressed the hope that the FIVB would facilitate the hosting of more top-tier international volleyball events in Beijing. BODA is willing to deepen cooperation with the FIVB and Volleyball World, jointly promote popular volleyball variations such as balloon volleyball, explore new models for the organizing of grassroots volleyball events, and leverage the sport as a bridge for exchange and collaboration among Olympic cities.

Yao Hui, Vice Chairperson and Secretary General of BODA, was also present at the meeting.
