Co-hosted by the Beijing Olympic City Development Foundation, Beijing State-Owned Assets Management Co., Ltd., and Capital University of Physical Education and Sports (Beijing Institute for International Olympic Studies), the 2026 “Ice and Snow for a Shared Future” Youth Olympic Education Series was launched at the National Speed Skating Oval on June 23, Olympic Day.

The 2026 edition has been upgraded around the 2nd World Humanoid Robot Games. This year’s activities will offer diverse experiences across the three dimensions of technology, sports, and Olympic culture. On the technology front, the program features event observation and hands-on robotics interaction centered on the 2nd World Humanoid Robot Games, leveraging the “Ice Ribbon” to create a sci-tech innovation experience IP. In terms of sports, it continues to organize ice and snow activities such as skating and floor curling to promote winter sports participation. On the cultural front, it integrates venue exhibitions, study tours at the Beijing Olympic Museum, and Olympic themed art creation to deepen young participants’ understanding of Olympic culture and their sense of national identity.

The activities fall into five categories, allowing young participants to learn the principles of humanoid robotics, watch top-tier tech competitions, practice real-ice Olympic sports, and appreciate the spirit of the dual Olympic city. This facilitates the deep integration of winter sports and Olympic education for the new era.

Li Yongjun, Chair of the Beijing Olympic City Development Foundation, stated in his speech that the Foundation has been dedicated to Olympic philanthropy, consistently making the preservation and use of Winter Olympic legacy its core mission. By engaging nongovernmental actors in youth winter sports education initiatives, the Foundation contributes to the long-term, sustainable development of Beijing as a dual Olympic city. Based on the last three years of practice, the 2026 edition has been upgraded to integrate winter sports, Olympic culture, and humanoid robotics experiences, so that more young people can experience up close the unique charm of Olympic venues and winter sports technology.

At the launch ceremony, the Beijing Olympic City Development Foundation presented a commemorative plaque to Beijing State-Owned Assets Management Co., Ltd., in recognition of the company’s ongoing public welfare efforts to promote the sustainable use of Olympic venues and the deep integration of youth Olympic education.

Now in its third consecutive year, the “Ice and Snow for a Shared Future” series has brought over 15,000 students from more than 100 schools across Beijing to visit Olympic venues and experience the unique appeal of winter sports firsthand. It has played a great role in promoting winter sports and advancing Olympic education in the post-Olympic era.

As co-hosts of the series, the Beijing Olympic City Development Foundation and Beijing State-Owned Assets Management Co., Ltd. have jointly advanced the deep integration of post-Games venue utilization and youth Olympic education to promote the development of the dual Olympic city and foster youth participation in winter sports. The initiative was named a National Outstanding Public Relations Case of 2025. Additionally, the National Speed Skating Oval and the National Aquatics Center were designated as municipal-level youth outdoor ice and snow activity centers, providing young people with a practical education platform for winter sports.

The Beijing Olympic City Development Foundation will continue to work with Beijing State-Owned Assets Management Co., Ltd. and Capital University of Physical Education and Sports (Beijing Institute for International Olympic Studies) to popularize youth winter sports, enrich the “Ice and Snow for a Shared Future” series, and further integrate the sustainable use of Olympic legacy and youth Olympic education in Beijing. These efforts will keep the youthful energy alive in the dual Olympic city and contribute more Chinese wisdom to the Olympic Movement.
