2025 “Sport Happiness Health” Youth Olympic Education Study Programme kicks off at Beijing Olympic Museum

Co-hosted by the Beijing Olympic City Development Association (BODA) and the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and organised by the Beijing Olympic City Development Centre, the launch ceremony of the 2025 “Sport Happiness Health” Youth Olympic Education Study Programme was held at the Beijing Olympic Museum on 21 May, with support from the Beijing Olympic Museum, the National Stadium and the National Speed Skating Oval. Gao Yunchao, Deputy Secretary-General of BODA and Deputy Director-General of the Beijing Olympic City Development Centre, Qian Jinjun, Level I Division Rank Official at the Sports, Health and Art Education Department of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, and Liu Yue, Party Secretary and Deputy Director of the Beijing Olympic Museum, attended the event. They were joined by Olympic champions Ye Qiaobo and Tong Wen, along with student and teacher representatives and media, totalling more than 100 participants.

Gao Yunchao declared the official launch of the Study Programme. He introduced that by engaging “Schools with Winter Sport Programme” and “Olympic Education Model Schools” across Beijing, the Olympic education activities aim to carry forward the spirit of Beijing 2008 and Beijing 2022, promote all-round development of the youth, make the most of the Olympic legacy for education in the dual Olympic city” of Beijing, spread the Olympic culture and sports culture at primary and secondary schools in Beijing and Zhangjiakou, advocate healthy lifestyles, and promote the physical and mental well-being of young people. They are also designed to disseminate the Olympic spirit and help implement fitness-for-all initiatives. These activities include study programmes and Olympic summer camps and winter camps, and will continue until the end of the year. This Study Programme will offer study tours and experience activities at the Beijing Olympic Museum and Olympic venues including the National Stadium and the National Speed Skating Oval. Through diverse forms such as exhibitions, interactive experience activities and video watching, it will provide comprehensive and immersive experiences for youngsters, enabling them to resonate with the extraordinary achievements of Beijing 2008 and Beijing 2022.

At the ceremony, Ye Qiaobo and Tong Wen were appointed as “honorary instructors”. The young Olympic cultural ambassadors gave the youth a call to action, calling on them to actively engage in sports and make sports a part of their lives while helping carry forward the Olympic spirit and spread the Olympic culture.

Gao Yunchao and Qian Jinjun together presented the flag of the Study Programme to representatives of the participating schools, marking the official launch of the 2025 youth Olympic education series of activities. The bright flags in the hands of the students symbolize the start of an exciting and enriching Olympic journey, which will undoubtedly leave them with precious life experiences and memories.

Ye Qiaobo and Tong Wen shared Olympic knowledge before donating their collections to the Beijing Olympic Museum. They also told their Olympic stories and competition experiences to the students, encouraging them to work hard with strong determination and courageously chase their dreams.

After the launch ceremony, the students visited the Beijing Olympic Museum and the National Stadium, also known as the Birds Nest. They said that the tours immersed them in Olympic culture, enabling them to learn a great deal about the Olympics. The exquisite museum and the magnificent Bird’s Nest left them in awe and filled with pride. They promised to apply what they experienced and learned today to their studies and daily lives, develop both physical and mental health, embrace healthy lifestyles, actively engage in sports, and study hard to contribute to the country.

It is learned that the 2025 Youth Olympic Education Study Program will be composed of 11 phases and welcome the participation of more than 2,000 teachers and students from Beijing and Zhangjiakou.
