Residents of Jianxingjie Community visit the exhibition
This summer, Paris hosted the Olympics for the third time, drawing global attention to the history and culture of the Olympic Movement. This touring exhibition presents the trajectory of the modern Olympic Movement and offers a profound interpretation of the Olympic spirit. Following the exhibition in the Summer Palace from July to September, small touring exhibitions have been held in universities, parks and residential areas, bringing the Olympic culture directly to the general public to meet their cultural needs.
Visitors receive tickets to the Beijing 2022 Games at the exhibition
It is of special significance to hold this touring exhibition in Shijingshan District. To serve the needs of the Olympic Games Beijing 2008 and economic and social development, operations of Shougang, a large steel company based in Shijingshan District, were relocated. After Beijing won the bid for the Winter Olympics in 2015, the factory-turned Shougang Park served as the office area of the Beijing Organising Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and a venue of the Games. Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, has on multiple occasions praised Shougang Park as a new model for the Olympic Movement in advancing innovative city development, the reuse of industrial heritage and the renewal of industrial bases. Jianxingjie Community, where this touring exhibition is taking place, is one of the 21 large residential communities under the jurisdiction of Gucheng Subdistrict in Shijingshan District and composed of six residential areas, home to a total of more than 2,600 households. The exhibition attracts a large number of residents in the community and employees in surrounding enterprises. Many parents take their children to the exhibition so they can learn about the history of the Olympic Movement and be infused with the Olympic spirit. There are also volunteers sharing rich information about the exhibition, and the interactive sessions give the visitors an even more fun and engaging experience.
According to the hosts, this touring exhibition will last until 27 October.
