In her speech Sima Hong stressed that we should acquire a deep understanding of the significance of affirming Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and should firmly uphold Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and uphold the Central Committee’s authority and its centralised, unified leadership. We should follow and implement the requirements on making good use of the Olympic legacy and realise that carrying forward the Olympic legacy is key to sharing the Olympic achievements with the people. The sense of responsibility and mission for carrying forward the Olympic legacy should be strengthened. We should study and digest what Xi said to think and act in line with the guiding principles of his speeches, and keep both our thinking and actions in line with the decisions and plans of the Party Central Committee and the requirements of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality. Efforts should be redoubled to promote the Winter Olympic spirit and fully tap the Olympic legacy.

Sima Hong stressed that BODA should give full play to its unique advantages as a Beijing-based Olympic legacy agency that connects the country and the world, persist in innovation and strive to make new accomplishments and build Beijing’s experience in carrying forward the Olympic legacy. This will better serve the development of the capital, benefit more people and foster a new development pattern for maximising the Olympic legacy. The main platform for spreading the Olympic spirit and carrying forward the Olympic legacy should be reinforced by strengthening top-level design, carrying out localised practices of the Olympic Movement, improving the operations and management of the Beijing Olympic Museum and widely publicising the Olympic legacy utilisation outcomes. It is important to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with international organisations such as the International Olympic Committee, introduce international events and emerging sports and expand the network and channels for international sports cultural exchanges, so as to build a unique window for the country to open wider to the outside world. The vice mayor also called for efforts to study and tap the Olympic legacy, promote the integration of Olympic culture with Chinese culture, Beijing’s culture as the capital and sports culture, carry out a range of Olympic cultural activities, enhance international communication capacity, and contribute to building Beijing into China’s cultural centre. Research on the theory and practice of the Olympic legacy should be strengthened, for example, by having on board talents involved in the two Olympics. The development of IT-based, digital and smart platforms should be advanced, collaboration between Beijing and Zhangjiakou should be strengthened, and a comprehensive platform for the utilisation of the Olympic legacy should be built. Moreover, we should improve guidance through Party strengthening initiatives and pool resources and strengths for carrying forward the Olympic legacy.
