On 23 June 2024, to mark the 77th International Olympic Day, public-interest skating training sessions were held at the National Speed Skating Oval, Pang Qing & Tong Jian Skating & Art Centre and the Ice Skating Hall of Lucheng Sports Centre. The event was hosted by Beijing Olympic City Development Association (BODA), undertaken by Beijing Pang Qing & Tong Jian International Skating Club, and co-organised by Beijing Huati Yixiang Ice Sports Culture Co., Ltd., with support from Beijing National Speed Skating Oval Operations Co., Ltd. and Beijing Beitou Sports Industry Co., Ltd. The opening ceremony was held at the National Speed Skating Oval and attended by Pi Yaming, Director of the Administration Department of the Beijing Olympic City Development Centre, Jin Yan, Board Chairman of the Beijing National Speed Skating Oval Operations Co., Ltd., and the world figure skating champion Tong Jian.

At the National Speed Skating Oval, Tong Jian and Russian coach Andrei Lazukin taught the students skating skills. They not only demonstrated the movements themselves, but also patiently offered guidance to each student to help them master skating skills in a relaxing and joyful atmosphere.

Meanwhile, coaches from the Pang Qing & Tong Jian International Skating Club also provided professional training to students at the Pang Qing & Tong Jian Skating & Art Centre and the Ice Skating Hall of Lucheng Sports Centre, arousing their strong interest in skating.

It is learned that this was an important event to celebrate the Olympic Day, and also an important part of the youth Olympic education project of the Beijing Olympic City Sports and Culture Festival. In the future, BODA and Pang Qing & Tong Jian Skating & Art Centre will continue to promote winter sports, provide more young people with opportunities to learn from world-class coaches, and jointly promote the development of winter sports in China.
