On 22 June, sponsored by the Beijing Olympic City Development Association (BODA), undertaken by the Beijing Olympic City Development Centre, and with support from the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, the Beijing Municipal Sports Bureau, the Management Committee of Beijing Olympic Park Centre Area, the Beijing Olympic Museum, and the Zhangjiakou Olympic City Development Centre, the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Youth Study Tour held an opening ceremony at the Beijing Olympic Museum. Among the government officials attending the ceremony were Gao Yunchao, Deputy Director of Beijing Olympic City Development Centre; Shi Fenghua, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of Beijing Municipal Sports Bureau; Zhang Bing, Level II Division Rank Official of Beijing Municipal Education Commission; Xu Chunqi, deputy-director-level official of the Management Committee of Beijing Olympic Park Centre Area; Liu Yue, Party Secretary and Deputy Director of Beijing Olympic Museum; and Shao Li, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of Zhangjiakou Municipal Sports Bureau. They issued the Olympic Culture Ambassador Certificate to the first batch of participating students at the ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Gao Yunchao called for the participating students to “Join the Wonderful Journey to the Beijing Olympic Museum”. He said that this study tour aims to leverage the education and research resources of the Beijing Olympic Museum, promote the integration of sports and education, guide more young people to learn more about the history and values of the Olympic Games, stimulate their enthusiasm for participating in physical exercise, cultivate in them the values of hard work, teamwork, courage and tenacity, and enhance their “mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play”.

During the tour, the young students visited the exhibition in the Museum, participated in interactive experiential activities, and watched the award-winning works of the Beijing International Sports Film Week in the 3D theatre.

It is learned that this trip involved a total of 100 teenagers from Beijing and Zhangjiakou. The study tour plans to hold 20 sessions at the Beijing Olympic Museum, and is expected to attract the participation of 2,000 young students from Beijing and Zhangjiakou.
