In the afternoon of August 17, the “18th Beijing International Sports Film Week Outstanding Works Release and Public Service Exhibition Launch” was successfully held in Beijing.
Jiang Xiaoyu, Vice Chairman of Beijing Olympic City Development Association, attended the launch event and delivered a speech. Cao Kang, Deputy Head of the Publicity Department of the Chinese Olympic Committee and Grade 1 Inspector of the Publicity Department of the General Administration of Sport of China; Fu Xiaohui, Secretary General of Beijing Olympic City Development association and Director of Beijing Olympic City Development Centre; Guo Benmin, Deputy General Manager of China Central Newsreel And Documentary Film Studio(Group); BianJian, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Beijing Radio and Television Station and Deputy Secretary General of the Beijing International Film Festival Organizing Committee, and Fan Kexin, athlete of the Chinese women's short track speed skating team and winner of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games short track speed skating men's and women's 2000m mixed relay event, as well as representatives of the shortlisted films attended the launch.
In his speech, Jiang Xiaoyu said that the Beijing International Sports Film Week has accompanied the public for 17 years since its inception in 2005, when Beijing was preparing for the Olympic Games. The Beijing International Sports Film Week has gradually become one of the important bridges for the internationalization of Chinese sports film and television culture. He hoped that the 18th Beijing International Sports Film Week would continue to expand the influence of sports culture, pass on the “Dual Olympic legacies” through sports films, and tell more outstanding Chinese sports stories to the international community.
The 18th Beijing International Sports Film Week is included in the Beijing International Film Festival for the first time, and the number of entries for Film Week is at a new high.
The success of the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games has made Beijing the world's only “Dual Olympic City”. In order to continue to expand the influence of sports culture and promote the construction of the spiritual civilization of the “Dual Olympic City”, this year the Beijing International Sports Film Week was officially included in the 12th Beijing International Film Festival, achieving a strong joint effort. Thanks to this, the total number of entries for this year's Beijing International Sports Film Week has reached a record high, with a total of 218 sports films of all kinds collected.

The “18th Beijing International Sports Film Week Outstanding Works Release and Public Service Exhibition Launch” was kicked off with a melodious performance of “Snow Flower” by the Olympic House Choir.
It has been 14 years since Beijing International Sports Film Week officially became one of the important sub-stages of the Global Final of the Milan International Sports Film and Television Festival. Over the years, the Beijing International Sports Film Week has sent more than 100 outstanding Chinese sports films to the Milan International Sports Film and Television Festival in order to let the world's filmmakers better experience the charm of Chinese sports films. The Beijing International Sports Film Week has made an important contribution to the promotion of sports cultural exchange in the world.
In the year of the Olympic Games, the Chairman of the International Federation of Sports Film and Television in Milan, Franco Ascani, also sent a video message saying that the 18th Beijing International Sports Film Week demonstrated the unifying power of sport. He expressed his hope that the Beijing Olympic City Development Association and the International Federation of Sports Film and Television will work together for the future of the Winter Olympic Games in Cortina, Milan in 2026. He said that our friendship will last forever and we will create new milestones! The event also featured a series of short films linking all the memories since the opening of the Beijing International Sports Film Week and recalling the highlights of this year's Sports Film Week series.
18 outstanding works in 9 categories were officially unveiled.
At the event, 18 outstanding sports productions carefully selected by the expert jury were also announced. The best of these contemporary Chinese sports films are a perfect blend of visual beauty and the soul of sport, highlighting the spirit of Chinese sport through the art of light and shadow. At the same time, some of the best works will also represent China in the “40th Milan International Sports Film and Television Festival”, helping to promote Chinese sports culture in the world.
Winter Olympic champions launch joint public service exhibition to enrich the cultural and sports life of the public.
The event also invited Fan Kexin, a Chinese women's short track speed skating team athlete and the champion of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics short track speed skating men's and women's 2000m mixed relay event, to launch this year's Beijing International Sports Film Week charity joint exhibition together with a number of leaders. Talking about her relationship with Chinese cinema, Fan Kexin said that although she usually has limited opportunities to watch films, she will pay attention to any film related to sports. She hoped that sports films can be used in a light and shadow way to make more viewers understand and love sports.
