The World WinterSports (Beijing) Expo 2016 will be held at China National Convention Centre duringOctober 19-22, 2016. It is aimed at fostering the development of winter sportsindustry, besides facilitating the preparations for the Olympic Winter GamesBeijing 2022.

Founded inBeijing, the winter expo is a high-end international exhibition. It covers wintersports and ice-snow industry and has managed to secure support from seveninternational federations for winter sports. The first winter expo will consistof exhibitions, summits and related activities, covering winter sports,ice-snow industry, winter tourism and youth training. The plan is to hold onewinter expo a year in the next five years.

The winter expois a key initiative of the municipal government, aimed at fostering thedevelopment of ice-snow sports between 2016 and 2022, so as to implement PresidentXi’s instructions on “motivating more than 300 million Chinese people topartake in ice-snow sports through the hosting of the Winter Olympics”, thusfacilitating the countrywide adoption of winter sports in China. The BeijingOlympic City Development Association will shape the winter expo as a keyplatform for collaboration on international winter sports resources, so as to driveup the ice-snow industry in China in the next five years.
