NYOGOC holds press conference on torch relay

May 28 (www.nanjing2014.org) On May 28, the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (NYOGOC) held a press conference to update the progress of the Nanjing 2014 torch relay.


The virtual torch relay of the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games has received extensive attention and active participation of the public from all over the world since its launch on April 30. As of May 28, the virtual torch has crossed through 80 countries and regions, from Europe to America, involving two million users with over 22 million online participations along the way. At present, the virtual torch relay has completed nearly one third of its journey while the selection of torchbearers for the physical torch is about to start.


Afterwards, the virtual torch relay will remain on its way. To better connect offline and online events, the NYOGOC also carries out offline promotion activities in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Kunming, where the ‘torchbearer mobilisation points’ will be set up to encourage the public to download a mobile app, ‘The Youth Olympic Torch Relay,’ allow them to go on the virtual torch relay via their mobile phones.
