May 15 (Kyodo News Service) The Japanese government disclosed the revisions to the Japanese Tourism Action Plan. The revisions emphasized that Japan would take the opportunity of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games to increase its tourist arrivals to 20 million.

To raise the attraction of some Japanese scenic spots, the Japanese government will build an online platform to provide tourists with the information on tourist households in multi-language. In order to draw foreign spectaculars of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games to head for northeastern tourism attractions, the Japanese government will work with travel agencies and railway companies to develop travelling routes.

The cabinet conference will be held in June to examine and approve the revisions. Japan is now eying no visa rule for Filipinos, Vietnamese and Indonesians.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan, economic tourism households are welcomed by foreign backpackers and are suitable for those students who travel for study. The Japanese government believed that the online platform would develop new clients and help stimulate the areas’ vitality.

The Japanese government will work on detailed plans to bolster the tourism households, for example, some “Tourism Households” logos can be made to issue them to qualified households.

According to the revisions, the quantity of duty-free shops in big cities will be doubled to about 10,000 and the commodity varieties will also be enriched. The Japanese government has already decided to include local alcohols into duty-free commodities since October, which it believes will bring about new business opportunities and encourage more local specialty stores to apply for marketing the duty-free product.
