(BEIJING, June 30) -- Some 1,500 newly-admitted members of the Communist Party of China (CPC) took the Party oath in a ceremony held in Beijing on Monday, June 30, 2008, on the eve of the 87th anniversary of the founding of CPC.

The participants were enrolled in the Party ranks during recent disaster relief efforts in earthquake-hit Sichuan Province; pre-Games services for the Beijing Olympics; and in various fields of social-economic development for the country. They observed the Party rule to take the oath with the attendance of senior Party members.

Then the participants volunteered in tree-planting and other activities at the Olympic Green Domain, where a number of Olympic venues are located.

Under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee, grassroots organizations and members of the CPC in Beijing have devoted themselves to the Olympic preparations and nation-wide disaster relief efforts for earthquake areas. Many members of the Chinese Youth League have learned by example from CPC members, made contributions to the Party cause and have since become CPC members.
