
(BEIJING, May 5) -- On the first day of the third round of domestic ticket sales for the Beijing Olympic Games on Monday, more than 320,000 tickets were sold, according to Zhu Yan, director of the BOCOG Ticketing Center.
A total of 1.38 million tickets went on sale in this round, for 244 competition sessions across 16 sports, including football, volleyball and basketball.
As of 5:00 p.m. Beijing time, more than 320,000 tickets for 73 competition sessions were sold through over 540 Bank of China ticket outlets and the official ticketing website, which received an average of 15 million page views per hour. From 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., 27 million page views were recorded, according to Zhu's statistics.
As early as 9:30 a.m., tickets for four sessions, including two basketball sessions, were sold out, Zhu added. Estimating that about half of the sales were done online, he said around-the-clock online ticketing would continue until June 9.
The Beijing Olympics will take place August 8-24, 2008.
