Competition Format

Competition System

Men's and Women's competitions will use the same competition system.

Teams will be placed in two pools of six teams for the preliminary rounds. Each team will compete against the other teams in that pool. The two pools will be seeded by the FIH.

The top two teams in each pool will proceed to the semifinals. The remaining teams will play classification matches for places 5-12.

Semifinal winners will compete for the gold and silver medals. Semifinal losers will compete for the bronze medal.

Match Duration

Each hockey match lasts 70 minutes. Each half lasts 35 minutes, with a 10-minute interval.

The two pools will be seeded by FIH as follows:
