Competition Rules

The Fencing Competition in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games will be held in accordance with the Rules For Fencing of the International Fencing Federation (FIE) and the Olympic Charter, in force at the time of the 2008 Games.

Pursuant to the Olympic Charter, FIE assumes the responsibility for the technical control and direction of its sport at the Olympic Games.

The "Rules for Fencing" in the French text is the definitive document determining the rules of Fencing. The "Special Rules for Olympics" determine and record special organizational directives required by the format of the Olympic Event.

Appointment of ITOs

FIE will be responsible for the appointment of 32 ITOs.

Draw

The draw for the Fencing events will be conducted on August 7, 2008 at the fencing competition venue.
