The Olympic Flame leaves the Olympic Stadium in Athens, Sapporo 1972Adrianus "Ard" Schenk (NED-speed skating) won three gold medals in the 1,500m, 5,000m and 10,000m. Each victory was by a wide margin and he set two new Olympic records. Schenk was considered such a hero in the Netherlands that a flower was named in his honour.[Full story]
