Whether you have just one day to spend in Beijing or seven, take the opportunity to explore as much of this charming and historic city as you can. One-Day Itinerary

Route 1

  • Tian'anmen

Patriotism & imperial history Get a taste of Chinese patriotism, history and culture in one day: Join the crowds that gather at dawn to watch the raising of the national flag in Tian'anmen Square; explore the neighboring Palace Museum, the former imperial palace; and enjoy meals at various time-honored restaurants throughout the day before experiencing the night life in Beijing. More>>

Route 2: Magnificent structures

See two examples of architectural achievements from the Ming dynasty with a day trip to the Badaling segment of the Great Wall followed by a tour of the Temple of Heaven. Top the day off with Beijing roast duck and traditional Chinese performances at a tea house.

Route 3: Gardens & residences

Explore the Summer Palace, the largest and most well-preserved imperial garden in China; treat yourself to an imperial feast; and visit two examples of Beijing residences -- Prince Gong's Mansion, the largest and most well-preserved residence of a Qing Dynasty prince and the Beijing hutong.
