The pairing selection of the wheelchair basketball competition was held on the morning of January 23, 2008. The twelve men's and ten women's teams were each divided into two groups. The National Indoor Stadium The National Indoor StadiumNational Indoor Stadium (NIS) will serve as the venue for gymnastics, trampoline and handball during the Olympics. An intense schedule requires the working staff to transform NIS into the venue for handball within 17 hours after the close of the gymnastics events. It is the first time in Olympic history that a gymnastics venue is to be converted to one for handball. More>>

USTB Gymnasium USTB GymnasiumThe University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) Gymnasium is completed. Comprising a main gymnasium and a 50 m X 25 m standard-sized swimming pool, the gymnasium has a total building area of 24,662 sq m. The main gymnasium contains a 60 m x 40 m competition area and 8,012 spectator seats, including 4,080 permanent seats and 3,932 temporary seats. More>>

Competition description Competition descriptionEvery team is comprised of five players and seven substitutes. The match consists of four periods of ten minutes. Technology and Equipment Technology and EquipmentCourt: The field of play intended for Wheelchair Basketball matches has no differences compared to that of Olympic Basketball. It is a rectangular hard surface 28 metres long and 15 metres wide. For official national and international matches, a wooden floor is required. [Full Story]
