The gold, silver, and bronze medals of the Torino 2006 Paralympic Games are distinguished by their application of color combinations to reflect the finesse, simplicity, and elegance of Italian style.
The obverse of the medals shows the symbol of the International Paralympic Committee using a red, blue, and green color scheme. The reverse shows the pictogram of the Paralympic event. The designers believed that this color scheme fully reflects the spirit of the Paralympic Games and the vigor, energy, and enthusiasm of the Paralympic athletes in competition.
The design concept of the Torino 2006 Paralympic medals was produced after much discussion by a group of experts. Ottaviani International Srl, an official sponsor of the Torino 2006 Parlympic medals, produced the medals. The medals were crafted using advanced machines and were hand-lacquered for an exquisite finish. Each medal measures 75 mm in diameter and 10 mm in thickness and weighs 260 g.
