Jang was the silver medalist in Athens and one of the most dominant lifters in this class. This time she didn't let any lifter come close to her performance. She set a new world record of 140kg for the Snatch, then went on to set a new world record of 186kg for the Clean and Jerk and won the final with a new world record of total weight of 326kg.

"At the moment that I won the Gold medal I felt so happy, because not everyone can win a Gold medal. I think of it as a gift from God," said Jang after the medal ceremony. "I want to thank my parents, my coach, and the crowd today, because every time I came to the platform, the audience cheered for me."
