(BEIJING, February 19) -- China's Yan Zi advanced to the second round at the 2.5-million-dollar Qatar Total Open scheduled for February 18 to 24 after ousting Russia's Vera Dushevina 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.
Yan took a full control of the first set and made an easy 6-2 win. But she met a touch challenge at the second set from tenacious Dushevina, losing 4-6.
Yan found her form at the decisive set and ousted Dushevina 6-2.
Yan's compatriots Zheng Jie and Sun Tiantian fell at the open. Zheng lost 1-2 at the hands of Russia's Yaroslava Shvedova and Sun was beaten 1-2 by France's Virginie Razzano.
