
(Beijing, February 28) -- Turkish athlete Ali Sari claimed the second gold medal for his country, in the men's -80kg category competition, on the third day of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 Taekwondo International Invitational Tournament on Thursday evening.
Turkey had previously won a gold medal in the men's -68kg category on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Karine Sergerie grabbed the first gold for Canada in the women's -67kg category competition, and host China also stood on the top podium, with two golds in the women's -49kg and -57kg category competitions.
The men's -80kg final was held between Ali Sari of Turkey and Egyptian Abdairhman Osama. Sari scored 3-1 in the last round of their final, and Chinese Zhu Guo beat teammate Hu Shuangjiang 3-1 to take one of two bronzes. The other bronze medal went to Canadian Sebastien Michaud.
On the women's side, the gold medal competition of the -67kg category was between China's Si Hui and Canadian Karine Sergerie. The Canadian came through to win the gold with 1-0.
Guo Yunfei of China went on to edge Australia's Tina Morgan to share the bronze with Liu Jing of China.
During the three days' competitions so far, China and Turkey snatched two golds each, followed by Spain and Canada with one gold each in the medal tally.
