(, July 5) -- Sculler Nuria Dominguez Asensio of Spain has secured a spot in the Women's Single in Beijing. This is thanks to a doubling up of an American rower, Anna Cummins, who will race in both the Women's Pair and the Women's Eight, leaving an extra place for another rower. Following regulations, the International Federation, FISA, chose Dominguez, thanks to her fourth place finish at the final Olympic qualification tournament in Poland.
Dominguez, a two-time Olympian, made her Olympic debut in the Lightweight Women's Double at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Eight years later, she entered A Final at the Athensand finished in sixth place.
Spain has now become the 61st country to participate in the 2008 Olympic rowing regatta. Dominguez will be Spain's only rower at the Summer Games.
