TOTAL 75 riders and 75 horses (+15 reserve horses/1 per team)

MAXIMUM PER NOC An NOC can enter a maximum of 1 team in the Team Competition (4 riders). An NOC may only participate with a maximum of 3 riders in the Final Individual competition. For nations qualified only as individuals, the maximum per NOC shall be 2 riders and 2 horses

ALLOCATION OF QUALIFICATION Qualification is allocated to the NOC, with open right to select from eligible riders and horses

QUALIFICATION SYSTEM PRINCIPLES – TEAM COMPETITION

2006 World Equestrian Games The 5 best placed teams (excluding the host nation) will qualify 5 teams
2007 European Jumping Championships The 3 best placed teams not already qualified and the best team from the individual classification will qualify 3 teams
2007 Pan-American Games The 3 best placed teams not already qualified and the best team from the individual classification will qualify 3 teams
Olympic Qualification Group F (Africa & Middle East) at WEG 2006 The team with the best combined classification of WEG 2006 and Olympic Qualification Groups F FEI approved event in 2007 will qualify 1 team
Olympic Qualification Group G (South East Asia) at WEG 2006 The best placed team of Group G at the WEG 2006
AND
The team with the best combined classification of
WEG 2006 and Olympic Qualification Groups G FEI
approved event in 2007 will qualify
2 teams
Host nation The host nation (CHN/HKG) directly qualifies a team 2 teams
Total Team Competition 15 teams of 3 or 4 riders

The NOC of the 2 best placed individuals from Olympic Qualification Groups A (North Western Europe) and B (South Western Europe) will be qualified 2 riders

Group C
The NOC of the 3 best placed individuals from Olympic Qualification Groups C (Central & Eastern Europe, Central Asia) will be qualified 3 riders
2007 Pan American Games
Group D
The NOC of the best placed individual from Olympic Group D (North America) will qualify 1 rider
2007 Pan American Games
Group E
The NOC of the 4 best placed individual from Olympic Group E (Central / South America) will qualify 4 riders
Olympic Qualification Group F (Africa & Middle East) The NOC of the 3 best placed individuals from Olympic Group F at the WEG 2007 and at the Group F FEI selected Olympic qualification event will qualify 3 riders
Olympic Qualification Group G (South East Asia, Oceania) The NOC of the 2 best placed individuals from Olympic Group G at the WEG 2007 and at the group G FEI selected Olympic qualification event will qualify 2 riders
Host nation The host nation shall qualify 1 or 2 individuals should they not be represented by a team (+)
Tripartite Commission Invitation No place will be reserved for Tripartite Commission Invitations within the Equestrian quota. However, should NOC Invitation requests meet the identified criteria, these may be matched with any unused quota places in agreement between the IOC and the FEI (-)
