Updated: 2008-08-11 22:12:45

(BEIJING, August 11) -- Young duo Chen Ruolin and Wang Xin of China will look to add to China's two diving gold medals at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games when they compete in the Women's 10m Synchronised Platform final at the National Aquatics Center on Tuesday.

China has topped every podium since this event was introduced at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Eight teams of two divers will compete.

Chen Ruolin and Wang Xin are ranked No. 1 and 2 in the world in the Women's Individual 10m Platform and are clear favorites in the Synchronized event. Chen won gold at the 2007 World Championships in Melbourne with her former partner Jia Tong. The 15-year-old teamed with Wang in 2007 and won the World Cup in February 2008. A gold medal in the event would be a nice belated birthday present for Wang who turned 16 on August 11.

Australian pair Melissa Wu and Briony Cole won silver in front of their home crowd at the 2007 World Championships and finished second twice at the Grand Prix this year in Canada and the United States.

Mexican divers Tatiana Ortiz and Paola Espinosa came third in all legs of the world series in Nanjing, Sheffield and Tijuana this year. Ortiz and Espinosa are ranked world No. 7 and 10 in the Women's Individual 10m Platform.
