(BEIJING, August 22) -- In a semifinal match that stayed close throughout, Spain emerged triumphant over Lithuania 91-86 on Friday, August 22, and will advance to the gold medal game of the Olympic Men's Basketball tournament.
Spain was led in scoring by Pau Gasol with 19 points and Rudy Fernandez with 18 points, while
Lithuania had a big night in long-range scoring, hitting 12 of 31 three-pointers. Top scorers for the losing side were Simas Jasaitis and Sarunas Jasikevicius with 19 points apiece. Jasaitis hit five of ten three-pointers, while teammate Ksistof Lavrinovic was four of six from behind the arc on his way to 13 points for Lithuania.
