(BEIJING, June 8) -- The annual Borislav Stankovic Cup, which involves champions from various continents, is the only high level FIBA series held in China. This year the event will be held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, July 17-20.
2007 European champion Russia, 2007 African champion Angola and 2007 Asian champion Iran will join the Chinese team in Hangzhout. This is an important warm-up for Olympic Games as it provides teams with an opportunity to test their strategies and scout their opponents.
It is hoped that Chinese center Yao Ming, who is recovering from foot surgery, will be able to participate in the three day event as part of his preparations for the Olympic Games. He currently plans to return to the Chinese team at the end of June.
