ALLOCATION OF QUALIFICATION Athletes qualify by name and by event. However, in the case of an NOC having more than 3 players in the top 4, or more than 2 in the top 16, the NOC may select from the eligible players to fill its Olympic places

38 players in each of the 2 singles events and 16 pairs in
each of the 3 doubles events will be qualified based on the IBF ranking lists as
of 1 May 2008. Players/pairs will be taken in turn and qualify as
follows: Players/pairs ranked in the top 4: a maximum of 3 athletes per NOC shall qualify Players/pairs ranked 5 to 16: a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC shall qualify Players/pairs ranked 17 and lower: a maximum of 1 athlete per NOC shall qualify |

| Continental procedure In each event, there shall be at least one player/pair from each of the 5 IBF Continental Confederations (the highest-ranked players/pairs in the IBF ranking lists as of 1 May 2008, or the most recent continental champion) |

| Host nation The host nation is entitled to enter a total of 2 athletes (men and women) if not otherwise qualified |

| Tripartite Commission Invitation 2 places in men's singles and 2 places in women's singles will be allocated by the Tripartite Commission |
