
(BEIJING, August 17) -- China's Zou Kai earned 16.050 points in the Men's Floor Exercise final to take the gold medal when two heavy favorites, Marian Dragulescu of Romania and Diego Hypolito of Brazil, gave up their medal chances with mistakes in their routines.
Dragulescu, the event's silver medalist in Athens, scored only 14.850 and finished seventh after failing in a landing. Hypolito, the 2005 and 2007 world champion in this event, did not stick his final landing and scored only 15.200 to finish sixth.
Zou's routine earned him a difficulty score of 6.7 points.
Gervasio Deferr of Spain won the silver medal with 15.775, while the bronze medal went to Russia's Anton Golotsutskov, who scored 15.725.
