Teams set up to discipline pedestrians

Updated:2008-03-27

(BEIJING, March 27) -- The Olympic host city of Beijing has set up 10 teams to discipline pedestrians and cyclers who violate transportation rules in the latest measure the city has taken to improve residents' manners.

The 10 teams, which will be made up of volunteers and model residents, will be overlooking ten key crossroads in Dongcheng District, urging pedestrians and cyclers to pay attention to traffic lights and to use crosswalks.

The district has put up traffic signs at the ten designated crossroads and given flags to the teams. Starting from April, the ten teams will be on duty on Monday during rush hour.
