Spectators reminded of media information

(BEIJING, August 11) -- Ticket-holding spectators are reminded of media information on weather conditions and new arrangements for the Olympic events canceled because of rains.

Sun Weide, deputy director of the Media and Communications Department of BOCOG urged spectators to closely follow information of print media or broadcast stations before going to competition venues. Spectators unable to watch the make-up competitions can have their tickets refunded, he told the reporters attending a press conference on Monday.

He said on Sunday, some tennis, archery and rowing events had to be put off because of a rain. However, they have been rescheduled properly. Beijing has made preparations for a forecast rain on Monday again, he added.

Statistics show that On Sunday, August 10, the Olympic venues in Beijing received a total of 3,865 athletes, 2,774 coaches, 1,254 technical officials, 290,288 spectators, 6,436 VIPs and 7,731 journalists. A total of 22 competitions were held in 22 venues, producing 14 gold medals.

13 gold medals will be produced on the third day of the Olympic Games, with 22 events scheduled in 18 venues. According to the weather forecast, it will probably rain again in Beijing on Monday. BOCOG will continue to monitor weather conditions and make adjustments accordingly. Air quality was rated second grade on Sunday, August 10, and it was forecast to reach first grade today.
