(BEIJING, July 24) -- The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine has decided to allow the entry of leprosy patients and their family members to China as of July 20, 2008.
According to the administration, on June 18, 2008 the U.N. Human Rights Council unanimously adopted a resolution which says leprosy patients are entitled to the basic rights as other people are. China co-signed the resolution. To honor its commitment and reflect the Chinese government's care for leprosy patients and its practical action to eliminate discrimination against leprosy patients, the administration decided to allow the entry to China of leprosy patients and their family members starting July 20, 2008.
