(BEIJING, June 16) -- Beijing Mayor Guo Jinlong toured the 102.6-km Olympic road bike race, marathon and triathlon venues on Saturday, encouraging the staff at each of the sites to work hard in the final two months of preparations before the start of the Beijing Olympics.
Guo passed through the north-south race course, which some have called "the most scenic bike course in the history of the Olympic Games." It will bring competitors to the Temple of Heaven, Tian'anmen Square, Beijing Olympic Tower, Peking University, the Badaling section of the Great Wall and many other famous sites in China's capital city.
Guo told the organizers that the three outdoor Olympic sports will demonstrate the landscaping and management capabilities of the city. City and venue operations should be closely integrated, environmental management along the race routes should be enhanced and the role of venue teams should be brought into full play, he said.
