Cubans to follow Beijing Olympic Games by TV and radio

HAVANA, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Cuban people will enjoy the development of the Beijing Olympic Games by TV and radio transmissions, president of the Radio and TV Institute (ICRT) Ernesto Lopez announces on Thursday.

In declarations to the local madia, Lopez said that during the Olympics from Aug. 8-24, Cuban TV channel and a radio station will transmit all day what happens during the Olympics.

Usually, the ICRT makes wide coverage on sports events, especially on Centro American, Pan-American and Olympic contests, as well as on baseball and soccer world cups.

Cuba has 145 sportsmen of 16 disciplines for the Olympic Games and aspires to be among the first 10 countries on the medal table.

In the Athens Olympics, Cuban won the 11th place among 202 countries and regions, after winning 27 medals, among them nine of gold, seven of silver and 11 of bronze.
