(BEIJING, April 17) -- "Beijing Huan Ying Ni," or "Beijing welcomes you," the theme song for the 100-day countdown celebration of the Beijing 2008 Olympics Games, was released in Beijing on Thursday at a celebration event attended by numerous singers and stars.
With lyrics by Hong Kong's Lam Jik and music by Xiao Ke of the mainland, "Beijing Huan Ying Ni" is expected to be a successful follow-up to the theme song for the one-year countdown celebration, "We are Ready." Jackie Chan, Wang Lihong, Emil Chau and other singers and stars lent their voices for the studio recording of the song.
Production of the song began in early March and took just a month and a half to complete, according to Zhao Dongming, director of BOCOG's Cultural Activities Department. It took two weeks to compile recordings by 100 singers and six days to complete the final production work.
The idea for "Beijing Huan Ying Ni" was a joint effort by BOCOG's Cultural Activities Department and China Mobile.
Fans can download official copies of "Beijing Huan Ying Ni" via China Mobile and www.12530.com and show their support for the Olympic Games. And on April 30, 100 vocal artists will gather in Beijing to perform the song during celebrations for the 100-day countdown to the Beijing Olympic Games.
