Olympic torch to tops Mt. Qomolangma in May

In May 2008, the torch relay of the Beijing Olympic Games will open a new page. After the relay in Hong Kong and Macao, the torch will arrive in Sanya of Hainan Province on May 4, 2008. The relay on the mainland of China will begin and the torch will pass through one city each day.

In May, the torch will ascend Mount Qomolangma. The torchbearers will choose a day with good climate conditions to bring the torch to the top of the highest mountain in the world.

The Beijing Olympic Games will publicize the idea of "Green Olympics, Hi-tech Olympics and People's Olympics" and showcase the unique natural views, humanitarian features and rich mountain resources of Tibet through this activity.

The last two events of the "Good Luck Beijing" series competition will be held in May 2008. The "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 China Athletics Open will start on May 22 and the 2008 Olympic Marathon Swimming Qualifiers on May 31, 2008.

The 2008 China Athletics Open is quite outstanding since this is will be the first sports event to be held in the National Stadium. Liu Xiang will also race for the first time in the "Bird's Nest."
