(BEIJING, Dec. 11) -- On December 11, Xiang Ping, vice minister of BOCOG's Games Services Department, revealed to the public that among the food to be supplied for the Olympic village, Asian food would account for 30 percent, including Japanese food, Korean food, and Chinese food.
During the press conference that day, Xiang Ping said that the Olympic menu had already passed the first trial and that it would be delivered for final approval next January. Following the final approval, food production will begin. She said that IOC emphasizes the internationalization of food for Olympic Village.
Regarding food safety, Dai Jianping, vice minister of BOCOG's Games Services Department, said that the Beijing Municipal Food Security Office has been set up and is in charge of selecting food suppliers for the Olympic Village. All ingredients, seasoning, and production processes are under strict control and monitoring.
