(BEIJING, September 17) -- Demand for the 2008 Olympic jade seals far exceeds the current supply on the market, boosting their price in some cities in the country.
To date nearly two-thirds of the limited issue of 2,800 pieces has been sold out on the market, with half issued and the rest reserved.
The seal is 13 centimeters tall, symbolizing the population of China -- 1.3 billion, and 8 centimeters in width and length, representing the opening date of the Olympic Games -- August 8.
The Chinese characters "Chinese seal, dancing Beijing" are engraved on the recto. The item is a piece of handiwork sculptured through 108 procedures and weighs 1.5 kilogram.
The product can be purchased and reserved at Olympic-licensed stores across the country.
