As one of the most vigorous parts of its human resources plan, Media
Operations launched its Specialist Volunteer Program in 2005, three years before
the Games.
On the basis of job analysis and resource evaluations, a plan was developed
to recruit more than 2800 volunteers to assist in the Media Operations area.
A number of first class universities located in Beijing such as Peking
University, Tsinghua University, etc, have been chosen as the strategic partners
for the recruitment and training of the specialist volunteers. English language,
journalism, communications and public relations students are being targeted.
Media Operations has been actively involved in the volunteer training program
by organizing more than 20 specialized seminars on Media Operations with the
colleges, which received extraordinary support from the students. The directors
and each of the managers from Media Operations presented lectures which aroused
the students' enthusiasm to become Media Operations volunteers in 2008.
With the overall BOCOG volunteer program launched last August, the series of
Media Operations education courses have been held in student classes and are
aimed to provide them with specialized knowledge.
