Media Services

Media Services Division of the Media Operations Department is managing such vital media services as Accommodation, Accreditation, Transportation, Rate Card, Catering, Technology and Telecommunications provided by various BOCOG functional areas. Serving as a liaison point between media representatives or organizations and BOCOG service providers, Media Services provides direct advice and help for the functional areas to ensure that media needs are understood and met.


Accreditation

In order to maintain a high level of services for the world's press, the International Olympic Committee maintains a strict quota. For the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the IOC has set a quota of 5,600 for written and photographic press -- the same as for Athens 2004 and Sydney 2000.[Full story]

Transportation

The transport service level for the Media has been based on the IOC rules and requirements, successful experiences of the past Games and in line with the actual traffic conditions in Beijing.[Full story]

Accommodations

AccomodationsBOCOG is responsible for providing the accredited media with clean and comfortable housing and related services at reasonable rates. Only the accredited media can apply for such accommodation under the BOCOG booking process.[Full story]

The Beijing 2008 Press Rate Card offers a detailed list of products and services available to assist the operations of news organizations during the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games according to the Host City Contract. [Full story]

Publications

The Media Operations Department published the first issue of Media Information on the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games at the end of 2005 and distributed it to press organizations via National Olympic Committees. [Full story]
