Fourth IOC & BOCOG press conference

Updated:2008-08-12 10:17:33

ABC, Australia

Just back to the APC, it is fine at the front, I also understand there is a swat teams outside the athlete village. Is it truly a response to the attack incident or is it something else of concern?

Wang Wei

I'm not the person who deploys all this. So from my perspective, I think it's meant to be protective to safeguard security and safety of all the athletes and everybody. And I've been to different Games and I don't think this is surprising in Beijing. I've seen them in other Games. Is that right? Thank you.

9 Network, Australia

Just regarding the ticket scalping, is BOCOG aware of the amount of ticket scalping that is actually happening?

Wang Wei

Not really. You know we have done a lot in this regards. We adopted the real name policy for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. So one of the reasons for ticket scalping, for the competition tickets, we have quotas for each person who buy tickets. We also adopted prevention measure. We adopt many measures. People who want to do this, they must hire other people to buy more ticket to do scalping. We also deploy more people to implement our policy of forbidding scalping. That is all we do, if you know it, we will do something about it. Thank you.

First of all, I would like to ask why this gentleman wouldn't give me the mic after Mr. Sun has pointed me. People around had seen that. He refused to give me the mic after several requests. Second of all, after this incident, I would really like to ask this question. I am from Free Asia. Radio Free Asia was given two credentials from BOCOG, however, only I, at the last minute got the credential. My other colleague still hasn't received his credential. After many complains from my organization we haven't got any explanation regarding this. I would like to see if I can seek an answer from both IOC and BOCOG for this situation.

Wang Wei

I think the issue is still pending and what is happening is still in the process.

Radio Free Asia

IOC, please.

Giselle Davies

Sorry I was nodding because we discussed about this. When this was raised to us by an organization, we have discussed this with our colleagues, and we understand the process is in course of a pending matter.

Reporter from London

Can you comment on the 21 points censorship plan, which been issued to the Chinese journalists further restricting what they cover with regard to the Olympics? First of all, do they have 21 censorship plan? If they do, what is restricted?

Wang Wei

I think I answered this question just now. I am not aware of this 21 restriction.

Reporter from London

You don't know whether it is there or not?

Wang Wei

No, I don't know.

Reporter from London

If they issue something like that, they wouldn't tell the Olympic Organizing Committee?

Wang Wei

Well, that is your opinion. Thank you.

Reporter from London

That is an observation, not an opinion.

Wang Wei

Fine.

Sun Weide

That is the end. Thank you.
