Belgian's Dubios qualifies for semis

(BEIJING, August 9) -- Belgian rower Bram Dubios qualified for the semifinals in the men's single sculls repechage by capturing second place with a finish of 7:05. 65.

Afterward Dubios said, "I had no problem today. Though I only came out the second in the group, it's ok as I have the chance to compete in the next round. I'll give out all my full force in the finals."

When asked whether he was confident about competing in the finals, Dubios said, "Of course I'm confident. The Australian rower is not as big as I am. Why can't I outdo him?"

Dubios added, "We participated in the World Rowing Junior Championships in Amsterdam last year. But the course conditions there are not as good as those here. The venue environment here is of the first rate in the world. As the conditions of each course are completely the same, very fair competition conditions are provided to the rowers."
