Yanqing No.1 High School was created in 1956, and it was named a model high school in Beijing in April 2004. Covering 83511 square meters, the school has a clean and tidy campus with old trees and green grass. The school provides the students with a sports field, a basketball field, a tennis court, and a gym. The students can read books in the modern library that has 100,000 books. The 1000 Mb-campus-net provides the students with information at home and abroad. In the net-classrooms they can feel the pulse of the modern times. The school has built platforms for the students, for example, observatory, biological, wind band and the school newspaper Campus Wind. The teachers here, broad in learning and many-sides abilities, pave the way to success for the students (75 senior teachers; 39 excellent teachers in Yanqing County and Beijing; 4 famous teachers all over the country). There are now 50 classes. 2368 students and 283 teachers and staff members are working here happily.

Taking a student-centered approach and emphasizing their quality and the development needs of the whole society, the school strives to help students nurture good morality and habits as well as willpower to pursue a life-long study. What's more, the school tries to teach everyone to be a perfect citizen aware of responsibilities, who not only loves our country and has excellent academic achievements, but also has a healthy body and honest personality. In a word, in order to make them adapt to the life in the future, the school tries to lay a solid foundaiton for their premanent education. Among the 283-strong teaching staff, 75 are senior teachers, 39 are countywide and citywide excellent teachers and four are nationwide famous teachers. They work with a total of 2368 students in 50 classes.

Since the foundation of the school in 1956, everyone in No.1 High School creates and accumulates his/her own culture and traditions with strong will. Under the direction of the school slogan "noble, knowledgeable, honest, creative", more than 30,000 excellent students completed their education here. Over 6,000 excellent graduates have been admitted by universities, such as Peking University, Tsinghua University and some other colleges and universities. Most of them have become the pillars of the country. Yanqing No.1 High School, the place young people are looking forward to entering, is creating the wonder in education reform.

The students are involved in active extracurricular activities. The group of folk music won the first prize in special performance in Beijing. Some students, who were skilled in art, were admitted into art. Their works of fine arts were exhibited in Chinese Art Museum. Science Festival, Sports Festival and English Festival are held each year in the school whose teachers. It has carried out an exchange program with experts and teachers in foreign countries, such as Japan, South Korean, France and Ireland. Last year the students in the school attended The World Heritage Education Forum in Newcastle, England, giving a report on China's Great Wall and how they protected the world heritage. The attendees showed great interest in the talk.
