(BEIJING, August 12) -- Construction work on the Olympic Green Archery Field, with 14 m-high spectator stands, yellow seats, and a "V" shaped archery range, was completed on Sunday, just in time for the Good Luck Beijing 2007 International Archery Tournament on August 20.
The 14 m-high stands are the steepest spectator stands of any outdoor venue. The purpose of this design, according to a venue supervisor, is to make sure that spectators have a good view of the competitions. This is, after all, a "People's Olympics."
The Olympic Green Archery Field has a total area of 9.22 hectares. It covers a floor space of 8,609 sq m, including the 1,815 sq m of spectator stands. The venue has three fields, including one for ranking round competitions and two for medal rounds. Four Olympic gold medals in women's and men's archery events will be earned here next August.
The venue has a total capacity for 5,384 spectators, with seating for 4,510 in the combined elimination and final round field, and 874 in the elimination round field.
