National Indoor Stadium to be decorated with pretty pictures

Updated:2008-06-13

(BEIJING, June 13) -- China's State Forestry Administration and The Nature Conservancy presented the National Indoor Stadium with 200 photos of beautiful natural scenery, displaying the results of Chinese protection and conservation efforts.

Li Guo of the National Indoor Stadium remarked that these colorful pictures would add a splash of liveliness to contrast the gray colored walls of the Olympic venue.

These photos were a part of a contest hosted by the State Forestry Administration, BOCOG, and The Nature Conservancy, held between December 20, 2007 and April 20, 2008.

Over 10,000 photos were submitted, taken from various angles highlighting the beauty of China's nature reserves, efforts at protecting endangered animals and plants, harmony between man and nature, and the infinite variations of life.

The contest was part of a series of activities aimed at showcasing nature in China, allowing people to better understand China's conservation efforts and spreading awareness about environmental protection.

At present, there are 2,300 nature reserves in China.
