(BEIJING, November 26) -- A step into the National Stadium will give your eyes a rewarding treat. Row after row of straight-backed, gray chairs make a grand statement of neatness. After taking a moment to relax in the calm, this reporter noticed something strange -- attached to the back of the pews of chairs, there appeared to be a "patch" of some sort.
When asked about the reason for the strange yet uniform patch added onto the backs of the chairs, the vice-president of Guoao Investment (principal owner and manager of the National Stadium) said, "These chairs were custom made for the stadium. They are not only comfortable, they're also noiseless so as not to interfere with the competitions."
These small details and considerations help prepare the stadium for use after the Olympic Games. How "smart!" Why can't all the stadiums be like this?
The stadiums and gymnasiums at the Chinese Agricultural University, Beijing University, Beijing University of Science and Technology, as well as the other three large stadiums that are scheduled for usage during the Olympic Games will be put to good use even after the international sporting event. The remaining stadiums, including the "Bird's Nest" (National Stadium), "Water Cube" (National Aquatics Center), and "Old Mountain Velodrome" also have plans to be utilized after the Games. These gymnasiums are important for the Olympics, but they are equally important to the community after the last Olympiad leaves Beijing.
The National Stadium is be put into effective use after the Beijing Games. The aforementioned stadium is Beijing's most modern indoor gymnasium, with the most number of seats available for any event it may hold in the future. From sporting events to arts and culture shows to large scale exhibitions to indoor markets, the National Stadium deserves its rank among comprehensive and well equipped stadiums in the world.
