
(BEIJING, January 23) -- Chinese Huang Huan snatched the second gold for the host country on women's +75kg category competition on the last day of "Good Luck" Beijing 2008 International Weightlifting Invitational Tournament at Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (BUAA) Gymnasium on Wednesday afternoon.
Huang, scored 119kg in snatch and 150kg in Clean & Jerk, won the gold medal in women's +75kg category with the two-lift total of 269kg. She was followed by Greece's Aikaterini Roditi (254kg) and Vasiliki Kasapi (250kg).
Eight lifters from China, Japan, Greece, Kazakhstan and Spain participated in the competition. In accordance with the Olympic weightlifting regulations, lifters' best weights in snatch and Cl.&Jerk groups were calculated as their final records.

In snatch group, Chinese rookie Li Rongyan, the lightest in body-weight of 76.90kg made two successful lifts on 95kg and 102kg, but failed at her third attempt for 107kg. Greece's Hercules Aikaterini Roditi and Vasiliki Kasapi debuted as the last two lifters with best entry scores made the successful lifts on lifted 115kg. The final bout was between the Chinese Huang Huan and Greek lifters. And Huang topped the group with 119kg, followed by Aikaterini Roditi and Vasiliki Kasapi of Greece with 117kg and 115kg respectively.
Chinese Ding Meiyuan held the +75kg category Olympic record and Chinese lifter Mu Shuangshuang made a new world record of 139kg at Doha Asian Games in 2006.

After two unexpected failures by Greek Vasiliki Kasapi at 135kg and 142kg in Clean & Jerk group, Chinese Huang Huan was the last lifter to make the first successful attempt at 143kg, and increased the weight from 148kg and 150kg at her second and third attempt, though she already defeated all competitors with ease at the first round of Clean & Jerk lift.
