Liu Yandong

Liu Yandong serves as Vice-President of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) and Vice-Secretary of its leading Party members' group.

Liu was born in Nantong, Jiangsu Province in November 1945 and graduated from the School of Administration of Jilin University with a major in political science. She earned a doctorate in law through an on-the-job postgraduate education.

She is currently a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee; state councilor; and a member of the leading Party members' group of the State Council.

Her previous positions included deputy secretary of the CPC Chaoyang District Committee of Beijing; member and executive member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China; vice-chairwoman and chairwoman of All-China Youth Federation; deputy secretary-general of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee; deputy head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee; secretary of the leading Party members' group of the Central Socialist Academy; vice president of Soong Ching Ling Foundation; vice-chairwoman of the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and member of its leading Party members' group.
