He Zhenliang serves as Advisor to and Executive Member of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG). He is also Honorary President of the Chinese Olympic Committee, IOC Member, and Chairman of the IOC Commission for Culture and Olympic Education.
Born in Shangyu County, Zhejiang Province, in 1929, He holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Aurore University (Shanghai).
His previous posts included Vice Minister of the State Commission on Physical Education and Sport of the People's Republic of China; Secretary General, Vice-President, and President of the Chinese Olympic Committee; Advisor to the National Sports Federation of China; President of the Chinese Athletics Association, of the Chinese Rowing Association, and of the Asian Rowing Association; Member of the IOC Executive Board; Vice-President of the IOC; Chairman of the Cultural Commission; Vice-Chairman of the Sport for All Commission; member of the following Commissions: Olympic Solidarity, Olympic Movement, Apartheid and Olympism, Council of the Olympic Order, Preparation of the XII Olympic Congress, Study of the Centennial Olympic Congress, Congress of Unity, "IOC 2000", IOC 2000 Reform Follow-up.
He was also involved in Beijing's Olympic Bid as advisor to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Bid Committee.
