Duan Shijie

Duan Shijie serves as Executive Vice-President of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG).

Duan is also Vice-President of All-China Sports Federation, the Chinese Olympic Committee (COC), and Chinese Athletic Association; Chairman of China Swimming Association; Chairman of Executive Council of China Sports Science Society; Member of Executive Committee of World Anti-doping Agency (WADA); Vice-President and Secretary-General of China Sports Development Study Society (CSDSS); and Vice Minister of the State General Administration of Sports (SGAS).

Born in Jinzhou, Liaoning Province, in March 1952, Duan graduated from the Beijing Institute of Physical Education (majoring in Gymnastics). He worked in the National Sports Commission (now SGAS) as Chief of Gymnastics Division, Deputy Head of the Fourth Training and Competition Department, and Head of the Third Training and Competition Department. Later, Duan served as Chief of the Athletics Sports Management Centre under SGAS and BOCOG Vice-President.
